Welcome to the home of the

International  Air  Rifle  and  Pistol  Association

Exclusively Devoted to the Air Gun Enthusiast

This organization is designed for those who shoot in their homes or other limited spaces.  The goal of the Association is to bring the challenge and rewards of Achievement Marksmanship to the ordinary air gun owner.   We want to provide attainable marksmanship challenges and the reward of attaining Marksman through Olympic Gold Certificates. We also want to provide a range of shooting activities that will reward the "non-professional" air rifle and pistol hobbyist. The air rifle and pistol hobbyist cannot afford to pay $1000.00 or $1500.00 for an Olympic class air rifle or pistol.  A hobbyist can attain the highest rank of shooting achievements with weapons he can buy in a general department store. These goals of Marksman through Olympic Gold are within the abilities of any dedicated marksman. The achievement levels are listed in the information handbook issued to every Association member. They are:

Marksman,  Marksman 1st Class,  Sharpshooter,  Sharpshooter 1st Class,  Expert,  Expert 1st Class,  Distinguished Expert,  Olympic Bronze Certificate, Olympic Silver Certificate,  Olympic Gold Certificate.  SCORES

The minimum distance from the chest of the shooter to the target is  9 feet. This distance should be within the reach of the average apartment, home or backyard shooter. The distance of 9 feet as the acceptable minimum for achievement shooting is made competitive with the 25 and 33 feet shooter by the size of the targets the International Air Rifle and Pistol Association uses. The shooter from Marksman to Sharpshooter uses the Beeman 4332 target. The bull on these targets is 1-3/8 inches in diameter. From Sharpshooter 1st Class to Expert 1st Class the target is the Beeman/NRA TQ-5/5. The bull on this target is 3/4 of an inch in diameter. For Distinguished Expert through Olympic Gold Certificate the Beeman 4402 is used. Its bull is 9/16 of an inch in diameter only one shot per bull. The scores required are equivalent to the USA Shooting Team, NRA, Pan Am Games, and Olympic shooting scores. The International Air Rifle and Pistol Association, relies on the honor system in awarding shooting certificates. The individual member when they attain an achievement level  send the General Secretary of the Association a notification of their new marksmanship level and a nominal fee; $5.00 for Marksman.  The General Secretary then sends an official achievement certificate signed by the General Secretary indicating the shooter's new rank.
